BC2B REVIEWS: Coolidge Corner Clubhouse
by: Britt Gordon
This restaurant is a veteran in Coolidge Corner, and with good reason. The Clubhouse is a classic American grill, featuring one of the best burgers you'll find in the area, which is offered with a combination of mouth-watering toppings. The variety of entrees and selections on the menu is impressive yet almost overwhelming, and menu items are uniquely named with a sports focus. The menu and collection of historic sports fanfare on the walls only adds to the upbeat environment and provides customers with a fun and inviting dining experience at the Clubhouse.
BC2B REVIEWS: The Friendly Toast
by: Mimi Than
A couple of friends of mine went to The Friendly Toast last week and came back saying “It’s nice to know that Massachusetts has diners.” The Friendly Toast was named one of the four best breakfast places in the country by Good Morning America, and also has been featured in Man vs. Food. They specialize in breakfast foods and serve eclectic meals with foods that you wouldn’t imagine being paired together, but end up tasting really good. For example, the King cakes (pancakes) came with peanut butter, chocolate, banana, and bacon. One unique thing about The Toast is that they make their own bread, which comes on the side of many meals. It has a nice atmosphere because of the typical diner-feel, the 70s couch in the waiting area, and the vintage décor on the bright green walls. Also the servers at the diner were really friendly, but it’s usually best to go on the weekdays, because service is typically slow on the weekends; also, like most diners, you have to pay in cash.
BC2B REVIEWS: The Fireplace
by: Melissa Donaher
The Fireplace restaurant in Coolidge Corner exudes a warm, cozy atmosphere with a menu with something for everyone. It is fairly small space, but we had the table right in front of the huge fireplace, which kept us warm even in the cold winter. For dinner, I had the Signature maple-glazed chicken with mashed potatoes and sage brown butter, which was delicious and filling. The prices were a bit expensive, but the portion sizes were fairly large, and I had enough to take some leftovers home with me. The Fireplace would make a great spot for an intimate date night, dinner with the parents when they come to town, or just a relaxing evening with friends- as no matter what the occasion, the food and atmosphere will make for a perfect night.
BC2B REVIEWS: Symphony Hall
by: Songwen Chen
While classical music is certainly not as popular as it once used to be, symphonies can still be quite the aural treat. The majestic Symphony Hall has come to the genre's rescue by marketing brilliant performances to a new, younger audience. For all of the Boston Symphony Orchestra's concerts this season, Symphony Hall is offering a 20 under 40 deal, where patrons under 40 years old can purchase a ticket for only $20. This is a great deal that not only allows one to experience a fantastic musical performance, but also the brilliant acoustics and cultural significance of a hundred year old concert hall that is widely recognized as the finest in the United States and among the top three in the world. Definitely a must experience in the city of Boston.
BC2B REVIEWS: Flour Bakery and Café
by: Jane Barry
This is a great organic lunch place tucked away near the Boston Children’s museum. Just a short walk along the water from South Station this lunch spot has it all. Baked goods, delicious sandwiches, freshly made juice and lemonade and great coffee drinks. Great for a Sunday brunch or a short walk from your internship or trip to south station. The line may be long but moves fast and the Panini is always worth the short wait.
BC2B REVIEWS: Boarder Café
by: Jane Barry
The Boarder Café is the best Mexican food that I have found in the Boston area. It is a festive atmosphere and a great excuse to take a trip to Harvard Square. The guacamole is amazing and the menu extensive. It is reasonably priced for Harvard square and a fun place to go with a big group!
